Dispensary update

Please support your GP surgeries and dispensing services……

Our dispensary services are currently under threat from large private internet pharmacies. The income from our dispensary services allows us to continue running our village practices, which might otherwise have to close. Please support us by continuing to use our dispensary as usual.

If you are struggling with any aspect of this, or have any suggestions on how we could improve, please let our Practice Manager, Jess Holland, know either at top@nhs.net or on 01980 620259.

Travel vaccinations

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.  This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

Europe Europe & Russia North America North America
Central America Central America South America & Antarctica South America & Antarctica
Caribbean Caribbean Africa Africa
Middle East Middle East Central Asia Central Asia
East Asia East Asia Australasia Australasia and Pacific

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge.  This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Travel Health Questionnaire

To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the form and bring it with you on your first appointment.  Thank you.

Travelling in Europe

Seasonal Flu Vaccination

Flu (also known as influenza) is a highly infectious illness caused by the flu virus. It spreads rapidly through small droplets coughed or sneezed into the air by an infected person.   For most people, flu is unpleasant but not serious. You will usually recover within a week.

Studies have shown that flu vaccines provide effective protection against the flu, although protection may not be complete and may vary between people. Protection from the vaccine gradually decreases and flu strains change over time. Therefore, new vaccines are made each year and people at risk of flu are encouraged to be vaccinated every year.

The flu vaccination is offered to people in at-risk groups. These people are at greater risk of developing serious complications if they catch flu, such as pregnant women and elderly people.

Find out more about the flu vaccine, including how the vaccine is made and how it protects you.

 Important Information About Your Data

You may be aware that NHS England are sending out information leaflets to all homes with information to help you decide if you would like to dissent from data regarding your care being used to help plan local health care services and aid research. It is very important that you aware of what this means to you as an individual. Please follow the link under 'Further Information > Care Data' for a clear explanation and opt out forms which can be handed in to your surgery.

It is important to understand this is quite separate from the Summary Care Record. Information for this can also be found under 'Further Information >  Summary Care Record'.

Online Access for Our Patients

The Orchard Partnership is committed to improving patient access to our services on line. We already offer the facility to request appointments and repeat prescriptions, and provide patient access to their Summary Information on line. We are at present working towards providing patients with online access to a more detailed health record. If you haven't already obtained access to this facility, please contact the surgery, verification must be brought in by the person requesting online access. We cannot issue a log-on, on someone else's behalf. You will be required to provide photo identification and a proof of current address. Parents may request on behalf of their children until their 15th birthday, after this date, their account will be suspended pending revalidation by the patient themselves. Patients that have a log in and password for repeat medication will automatically have access to this facility.

In addition to the above, we are now able to provide seamless transfer of patient records between practices using the GP2GP facility. We now provide an Electronic Prescription Service, to a pharmacy of choice for our non dispensing patients.
