Practice Nurses baby_nurse

Our excellent practice nurses, J Angela Bennett and Ali James  are ably assisted by Health Care Assistant Mandy Newland. They provide ongoing support and care of chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and heart disease. They also offer:

  • Blood tests and blood pressure monitoring
  • Smoking cessation management
  • Travel vaccination and advice
  • Wound care
  • Dietary advice
  • Ear syringing and care
  • Cervical smears
  • Childhood immunisations
  • Contraceptive advice (both IUCD and Nexplanon are fitted at the surgery)

Health visitor
The health visitor holds fortnightly clinics and can contacted on 01980 654115 She gives advice on aspects of child care.

District Nurses
If you need advice about whether you are eligible for this service, please ask one of the GPs or the practice nurse who can refer you. Housebound patients can telephone the district nursing service directly on 01980 625340.

Community Midwives
Midwives see patients at the surgery and at home for antenatal and immediate postnatal care in association with hospital teams and the GP.

Counselling

Is available through Wilts Primary Care Psychological Therapy Service on 01722 820267

Mammography

Patients in the age group 50-70 will be called for mammography every three years. Patients beyond the screening age may contact the Screening Unit on 023 80794959 to request continued screening.

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following: health_clipboard

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Passport signing
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
